To Whom It May Concern:Â
I offer this letter of recommendation with great enthusiasm for Mr. Jeff Bryant, an education collaborator and dear friend. I was teaching in the Electrical Engineering Department at California State University, Long Beach when I first met Jeff at a University Career Fair in 2012.
Jeff attended the Career Fair as a recruiter seeking candidates for the Orange County Transportation Authority. I attended the Career Fair to ask recruiters for any tips they could share with me for my students writing their resumes. Jeff spent the next hour talking to me about academic resumes. internships, and entry-level qualifications that he looks for in a candidate. More importantly. Jeff went beyond sharing his time and knowledge with me that afternoon; he offered to come and speak to my EE 200. Trends in Electrical Engineering class of 120 sophomore-level students.Â
In this course, students listened to 50-minute presentations from practicing engineers regarding their professional careers and their career decisions as well as the significance of planning and communication skills in determining their advancement.Â
Jeff's presentation that semester focused on advice to our students on how to develop a winning resume, how to write a professional e-mail, and how to prepare for and conduct themselves in an interview. He volunteered his "Career Building Guest Speaker Series" every semester for the next nine semesters that I taught the course, and he always presented to a packed lecture hall. To say that Jeff mentored over a thousand of my students during our education collaboration would not be an overstatement.Â
In a more personal vein, I have grown to know Jeff quite well over the past 10 years. I can attest to his great desire to help students to succeed in their academic and career pursuits. Indeed, he continues to mentor CSULB students from across the miles. Furthermore, he possesses other indispensable attributes - among these, high intelligence, great integrity, due diligence, and a strong character. I have no doubt that Jeff will be as committed to his future scholastic endeavors as he was to my classes. I highly recommend him to you.Â
Sincerely,Â
Leeanne Bergeron, Lecturer - English Department
